"Outline compassion to Russia": why in the West cannot recognize genocide in Ukraine

The UN International Commission has not found evidence of genocide in Ukraine again. This caused indignation from Kiev. Experts explained why it is important for Ukraine to recognize the fact of genocide during the war in the West. The UN International Commission, which is investigating violations in Ukraine, has not found sufficient evidence to conclude that genocide is being carried out in the country.

According to the chairman of the commission Eric Mese, there are strict conditions for such qualifications. First of all, the intent of criminals. "There should be a" need "to destroy a particular group. And such destruction, according to the Convention, should be physical or biological," Messe explained. In March 2023, the UN International Commission had already published a report on a preliminary investigation of violations in Ukraine during the war.

Then the chairman of the commission also said that no signs of genocide were detected. This caused a wave of criticism from Kiev and the angry accusations of the UN almost in flutter with Russia. Human rights activists explained that it is difficult to prove genocide from a legal point of view.

But even if the commissions manage to do so, and the fact of genocide in Ukraine is recognized at the international level, it will not mean that all military criminals who have committed unlawful actions will be punished. At best, the tribunal will hold someone from the Russian leadership. According to experts, for the international community "genocide" sounds very important.

And if the UN International Commission establishes that during full -scale aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, Russian troops not only committed military crimes, but also intentionally destroying Ukrainians as a nation, such influential people as Pope Roman, would be inconvenient to speak about the "great inheritance" of Russia. "The Western community is not always fully versed in detail when it comes to Russia's war against Ukraine.

And if the Russian Federation is recognized as genocide, it will affect the further statements There are still political leaders in the West who support Russian aggression, and it will be more difficult for them to continue to do so, "says Focus political expert Alexander Kochetkov. The Roman Statute of the International Criminal Court (ISS) defines genocide as actions that are intention to destroy in full or partially national, ethnic, racial or religious group as such.

Such crimes have no statute of limitations. And the condemnation of the genocide country and its transformation into a complete rogue at the international level has a broader opportunity. At least, countries such as China, Brazil, India will be more difficult to continue cooperation with the Russian Federation without serious image losses. According to experts, the recognition of actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine with genocide is important from a legal point of view.

This makes it possible to hear more and more responsible cases of Russia's crimes against Ukraine in the tribunal and attracts more parties to condemn the Russian Federation. "From a legal point of view, this is a complex story. And the Russian Federation does everything to counteract this. For example, they order different articles in leading Western publications against Ukrainians. As it was in Romanian media, where some of the experts were probably under the influence of Russia.

The fact that Ukraine is trying to involve Romania into the Third World War, and with it all NATO, pedagoging the explosion from the drone that has fallen in Romania. In Russia, there is a whole grid that I call "Putin International", it is generously financed And it involves a huge number of people in the West who work in the interests of the Russian Federation, which complicates the recognition of some actions, " - said in a conversation with focus, political expert Oleg Posternak.

However, even if the UN International Commission fails to find evidence of genocide in the territory of Ukraine, according to experts, it will not change the fact itself. "The actions of the Russian Federation in the territory of Ukraine clearly fall under the definition of genocide.

It is known about concentration camps, where Ukrainians are sent, about the murder of patriots of Ukraine in the occupied territories, about the abduction of Ukrainian children, about the placement of children in temporarily occupied territories in special institutions for ideological processing. If the international community does not recognize that Russia purposefully destroys the Ukrainian nation, these actions will not cease to be so, " - says Posternak.

We will remind, in April 2023 the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) approved a resolution stating that the violent movement of Ukrainian children to Russia corresponds to the international qualification of genocide. In fact, this document became the first from the beginning of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation, where the international community has officially mentioned genocide on Russia's actions.
