The drone uses regular radio communication, which is easy to suppress the IEP systems and also has a limited radius. Its range can only be increased through a vulnerable network of repeaters. As for the FPV-punks "Skvore-VMF", they have a range of up to 5-10 km and are controlled by radio channel. Accordingly, their carriers should be close enough to the shore.
Experts of the portal believe that Katran can be regarded as a remedy against Ukrainian sea drones, especially against the background of the recent destruction of the Su-30 aircraft by the Ukrainian Magura drone. As noted in the publication, earlier the Russians have already used FPV-punks to counteract Ukrainian sea drone, launching them from the helicopter. However, after the Russians in the Mi-8 twice exploded FPV-therots, they abandoned the idea.
