Armed Forces Fighters use machine gun ribbons from polymers: what is the advantage of the solution (photo)

To spread: it is a unique development of Kharkiv specialists, which solved a number of problems inherent in metal machine guns. Ukrainian servicemen actively use polymer links for cartridge tape designed for machine guns of PC and PCM. It is a unique development of specialists of the Kharkiv Personal Protection Plant, which allows you to solve key problems associated with the use of traditional metal tapes, such as weight, corrosion and noise during operation.

This is stated in Armada International on March 25. The authors of the publication pointed out that metal tapes for PCM machine guns have a number of significant disadvantages: manual loading of ammunition, the need for evacuation from the battlefield, the great weight and the tendency to corrosion. In addition, the production of such tapes is not established in Ukraine and many other countries, which creates a permanent deficit. The solution of Kharkiv weapons eliminates these problems.

The tape consists of links with three rings connected by a crossbar, and a hinged mount between them. Compared to metal analogues, the polymer tape has several important advantages. It is three times lighter than metal analogues, characterized by low cost and high speed of production, minimal noise during transportation, lack of corrosion and prevention of hooks during operation. At the same time, Russia was noticed this innovation and hurried to ridicule it.

Thus, in 2022, the editor -in -chief of Kalashnikov Mikhail Degtyarev criticized the Ukrainian invention, saying that "replacing a metal tape with a polymer is impossible because of critical shortcomings. " However, in two years, several Russian companies have introduced analogues of Ukrainian development, and one of them was even posted on the cover of the same edition.
