"Military Actions and Prospects of the Armed Forces": The US Congress has published an analytics on Ukraine

US military experts believe that the potential of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will increase due to the continued security assistance of the West, especially in key industries. In 2023, the Armed Forces of Ukraine demonstrated the flexibility and ability to integrate Western assistance into their troops, despite the loss of personnel and material resources.

This is stated in the publication of the Analytical Service of the US Congress, which evaluates various aspects of the development of war since the beginning of the Russian invasion in February 2022. The material states that Ukraine was able to quickly mobilize reserve parts, where there were many veterans with combat experience, which partially filled the lack of junior officers.

The US Congress report also emphasized that the use of military equipment from various sources complicated maintenance and did not contribute to standardization, although Ukrainian troops carefully repaired and served the equipment during hostilities. The Armed Forces were also able to teach staffing and maintenance of various weapons supplied to them during high pressure.

In addition, the Armed Forces moved to more centralized management structures and accepted, despite the fact that many of their officers studied according to Soviet doctrine, NATO principles and standards. As for the needs of the Armed Forces, it is about combat aviation, although at the tactical level the Ukrainian army limits Russia's superiority in the air. As before, more materials are needed and, above all, ammunition, as combat operations require the maximum possible artillery support.

"Recruitment and motivation remain high, but losses, depletion of personnel and the need to rotate units are likely to remain constant problems," the document reads. Some experts believe that the potential of the Armed Forces will continue to grow due to constant American and Western security, especially in key areas. But other analysts say that the Ukrainian army faces serious obstacles to a decisive defeat of Russian troops, regardless of security assistance.
