The contract can consolidate closer military-political relations, potentially strengthening their common opposition to the West. Technically, two countries can cooperate in nuclear and space industries, where Iran has great interest. On July 1, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova announced a "Great Treaty" between Moscow and Tehran, which will be "comprehensive and mutually beneficial.

The authors of the material said that Iran and the Russian Federation signed a 20-year comprehensive agreement in 2001, and now both parties have again agreed to sign a new document.

According to him, the treaty can consolidate closer political relations, potentially strengthening their joint opposition to the West, especially in the light of conflict in Ukraine and sanctions. Iran is already supplying Russian drone to Russian for use in the war against Ukraine. In turn, Tehran considers the possibility of purchasing Russian air defense systems to protect its airspace.

The Senior Researcher at the Democrati Democratic Foundation Ben Taleblau believes that two countries can cooperate in the field of development and purchase of advanced weapons, as well as in joint military exercises and intelligence exchange. "Russia and Iran can cooperate in nuclear and cosmic industries, where Iran has great interest and in Russia has great abilities," the expert said.

In addition, both states seek to make their economies more resistant to Western sanctions and undermine order based on international rules. The new agreement may cover cooperation in various industries, such as joint ventures for oil and gas production, processing or infrastructure projections bypassing Western sanctions.

However, the document can only be a symbolic gesture than a legally binding basis, and it can be interpreted as a step of Iran's support from the Russian Federation in relations with Israel against the background of growing tensions in Lebanon and in general in the Middle East.
