In this regard, Polish expert Macey Shopa in Defense 24 of January 14 noted that the new aircraft illustrated the dramatic situation in which the air space forces of the Russian Federation found themselves. The intention of Russian designers to create a Mig-UTS can be an unexpected solution, since the aircraft and space industry of the Russian Federation is betting on a modern training and combat aircraft Yak-130, which has some success in the export market.
Meanwhile, this machine has some disadvantages-as-130 relatively expensive and has a low rate of production. According to the Polish analyst, there are 120 aircraft in Moscow. In addition, the machine is designed to increase the level of selected pilots, but at an earlier stage of training you need simpler and cheaper platforms. For such purposes, the Russians were Czech L-39, which appeared in the 1970s.
This training machine was very successful and meets the requirements of its time, but the park of aircraft remaining in the Russian Federation is steadily obsolete. The Russians have been aware of this problem for a long time, so they worked for a long time on the replacement of "Albatros". The solution of the problem should be a new Mikoyan's reactive training aircraft with the working name of Mig-UTS, which is created on the basis of the Mig-AT-forgotten Project in the 1990s.
Then this car competed with the Yak-130, but gave way to the lower flight characteristics. Mig-UTS will use the MIG-AT decision, including the layout of the pilot cabin and the main elements of the aerodynamic system. But unlike the predecessor, the new aircraft will be one -motor, not two -engine, which will significantly affect its price and the cost of flight hours.
"In principle, the plane will be equivalent to the updated Albatros or, if you want, Chinese K-8 Karakorum and Italian M-345," the Polish expert said. In this case, as a power plant it is intended to use the Russian engine AI-222-25, that is, the same as on two-motor Yak-130. Given technological progress, the aircraft will probably also get much more modern equipment.
Regarding the preparation of pilots, it takes five years in Russia, so it is unlikely that Mig-UTS has played a special role in the training of crews that will participate in hostilities in Ukraine. In addition, it is still unknown how quickly Mig-UTS will come to mass production. We will remind, in November last year it became known that Tehran agreed with Moscow on the supply of Russian fighters Su-35, shock helicopters MI-28 and educational-combat Yak-130.
