Torture and execution: The UN has released facts

Investigators interviewed more than 150 victims and witnesses in four regions of Ukraine. They talked about electric torture, beatings, coercion to expose and other abuse in Russian detention center. Experts of the Investigation Commission in Ukraine under the United Nations Committee on Human Rights on September 23 made a report on the military crimes of Russian troops in the territory of Ukraine.

According to the chairman of the commission Eric Mese, the results of the investigation are talking about a significant number of crimes committed, including death, beating, torture, sexual violence, humiliation and inhuman treatment of prisoners of war. The commission investigated cases of military crimes of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 27 settlements of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Sumy regions within 10 days. Investigators interviewed more than 150 victims and witnesses.

Eric Mese quoted the testimony of the former prisoners who communicated with the investigation, who in particular told about beatings, torture of electric shock and forced to expose and other abuse in Russian investigators. In addition, the group examined the places of mass burials, in particular in Bucha, after which experts concluded that a large part of the victims both among the military and civilian population had been executed without court and investigation.

"On the basis of the evidence collected by the commission, it came to the conclusion that military crimes were committed in Ukraine," Mese said. The results of the examination of mass burials under the raisin are also published. According to the US Ambassador to the Human Rights Council Michelle Taylor, traces of torture are visible on the bodies. In this regard, she called on to continue the study of evidence of the violent actions of the Russians and the facts of the disappearance of citizens.

"The evidence of Russia's atrocities every day is becoming more horrifying, recently discovered mass burials in Izium, where traces of torture are visible on the bodies," Taylor said, adding that Russian invaders were questioned, detained or forcibly deported from 900,000 to 1, 6 million citizens of Ukraine.

In addition to the aforementioned evidence of the crimes of the Russians, the commission also provided data on sexual crimes committed by the Russian military - the age of victims varies from 4 to 82 years. "The commission has documented cases of rape, torture and illegal imprisonment. Children were also killed and injured as a result of non -harvesting attacks with explosive weapons," the expert report reads.
