Putin flies to Lukashenko in Minsk: why is it and what to expect Ukraine

The Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is not going to force the Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko to directly participate in the war against Ukraine on December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin should fly to Minsk for negotiations with the Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko. Putin and Lukashenko have been found very often, but in Belarus the Russian president has not been three years.

And it is this fact that raises many questions: Putin is not going to force the Belarusian dictator to direct participation in the war against Ukraine. The very question of such a question is beyond political logic. If Putin had to increase the pressure on Lukashenko, he would be much more comfortable to do it in his own territory, not in Belarus.

The Russian president has many opportunities to invite Belarusian colleague to visit again and again, but Lukashenko has no opportunity to give up Putin's invitations, he depends entirely on Moscow's political and economic support. Then why Putin flies to Minsk first, there are not many places for official visits in Putin, and "state activity" should be shown.

Each such visit for Putin is a demonstration that Russia's international isolation has failed, just now Russian leaders are talking to "true friends". And Lukashenko is generally a friend number one. Secondly, Putin's visit is needed by Lukashenko himself. After falsification of the 2020 presidential elections and suppression of people's protests, Lukashenko has even greater problems with legitimacy than Putin.

Lukashenko does not recognize the majority of states of the civilized world by President of Belarus, even their ambassadors do not give him certificates. Putin's arrival to Minsk is another "demonstration of legitimacy", a visit "President to the President". Well, Lukashenko can also demonstrate that he is not the head of the subject of the Russian Federation, but the head of a real state, to which Putin himself comes with a visit.

Therefore, you can consider this trip to the Russian president to the Belarusian capital with a New Year's gift to Putin to his closest ally in this cruel invading war. Third, this visit really has a psychological component. If in Kiev really fear the new attack of Russia on the Ukrainian capital this winter and participation in this attack of the Belarusian army, every new contact of Belarusian and Russian rulers - especially in Minsk - is approaching the possibility of such an attack.

Let them start worrying in Kiev, Putin loves to create such reasons for concern, for him it is also a "special operation". The hatred of both dictators to Ukraine and that is why the next Putin trip should not be seen as a political sensation. For Ukraine, the tandem of Putin and Lukashenko himself is dangerous: the hatred of both dictators for Ukraine and the willingness to try to prevent Ukrainians from building their own state.
