Ukraine is doing everything possible for the liberation of Crimea and victory over the Russian aggressor - the president at a meeting with representatives of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people

On the day of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with representatives of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people.

The meeting, which took place on the territory of the Crimean Platform Office, was attended by the head of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev, a permanent representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Tamila Tashev.

The head of state emphasized that today Ukraine honors the victims of the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people, against which a crime of genocide was committed 79 years ago. “Hundreds of thousands of people were expelled to a foreign land. The whole people were deprived of their home and tried to erase everything in the Crimea, which spoke about him, ”the President said.

Volodymyr Zelensky noted that almost half of the representatives of the Crimean Tatar people killed the Soviet authorities, and those who survived tried to convince that they would remain in a foreign land forever, because the ban on returning to their native Crimea lasted for decades. The head of state stressed that today Ukraine has felt the return of this evil that has changed symbolism, but not its essence. “But this time we will destroy it. We have to do it.

Whatever Russia is doing, a defeat awaits its aggression. It will not be able to steal neither Crimea nor any other part of our country. This is our home with you, ”Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. According to him, on May 18 - not only the day of mourning, but also the day of consolidation of the Crimean Tatar people for the sake of restoration of their rights and return to their home.

"We are doing our best to add to our common history the day of our common victory, which will open a reliable path home for all our people and will be a support for freedom throughout our land," the President of Ukraine said. The attendees paid a moment of silence to the memory of the victims of deportation and those who gave their lives, protecting Ukraine from Russian aggression. According to the President, in order to prepare for the reintegration of the peninsula, he signed a decree on the Advisory Council on the Deoccupation and Reintegration of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. “We also remember Nasiman Jelly, and Mustafayev's server, and Lenie Umerov, and all whom the invaders were deprived of freedom. And we do everything to release them.

Refat Chubarov, for his part, noted that what the Soviet authorities did with the Crimean Tatar people 79 years ago, it shows that the unpunished evil always returns with even more horrible crimes. Therefore, he said, so important is the work of our country to create a special tribunal on the crime of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

"The completion of the Russian-Ukrainian war is not only the restoration of the territorial integrity of our country, but also the laying of such a mechanism that there is no repetition of what we are experiencing now," said Refat Chubarov. The head of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people also noted the decree on the advisory council on the issues of de -occupation and reintegration of the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

“What you have announced this decree today is important. There will be a lot of issues related to our people about the reintegration of Crimea. Citizens of Ukraine have been occupied for nine years, and many different processes and different approaches. We have to concentrate everything within this council for de -occupation and work with all this, ”he said.

With regard to the future status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, according to Refat Chubarov, this issue should be discussed calmly and carefully after the release of the peninsula from the occupiers, based on the Constitution of Ukraine, national interests and international law. The head of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people also noted the importance of continuing work on the release of political prisoners in the Crimea occupied by Russia, which has about 200 people.

For his part, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev emphasized that the great respect among the Crimean Tatar people caused the assurance of the President of Ukraine on Iftar in April this year that no peaceful agreement with the aggressor could not be fully released by all the occupied territories.
