Will Belarus fight like the DPRK: Russia in search of additional allies at the front

Russia may not have enough North Korean soldiers who are already fighting in the Kursk region, suggests the International Viewer Mark Temnitsky in the column for The Hill. And then it will increase the pressure on Belarus, convincing her to join the war. Last month, Ukraine announced its first contact with the North Korean troops. The fight happened in the Kursk region of Russia. Ukrainians have succeeded during attacks.

It is reported that the North Koreans probably suffered losses during the fighting, and Ukrainian troops remained in their positions. Ukraine continues to keep more than 1,000 square kilometers of Russian territory. The North Koreans and Russians in the Kursk region are faced with other problems. First, they try to overcome the language barrier. Russian officers have to spend time training North Korean soldiers of major military teams, which is a painful process.

North Korea has estimated about 10,000 servicemen to help Russia in its long -term invasion of Ukraine. According to experts in the field of defense, the participation of North Korea will not change the scale of war. On the contrary, she indicates that Russia's invasion is not planned and that it desperately needs help. In addition, Russian and North Korean soldiers are difficult to conduct military operations. Two armies use different tactics, making it a problem coordination.

In one case, Daily Beast even reported that the North Korean soldiers fired and accidentally killed Russian soldiers who fought with them in the Kursk region. In view of these problems, Russia can seek help from Belarus. Over the past two and a half years, Russia has used Belarus as a bridgehead for its operations.

Russian troops were housed in Belarusian barracks, the Russians transported soldiers and equipment from the Russian Federation to the RB and were part of the Ukrainian territory from the north. In addition, the Russians struck Ukraine from the Belarusian territory. Russia even placed nuclear weapons in Belarus. In order for Belarus to join the war, there are advantages for Russia. First, Belarusian and Russian soldiers can easily communicate with each other.

In addition, Belarus and Russia conduct several military exercises and training during the year. They can interact with each other as they have already been working together. Belarusian soldiers will be familiar with Russian tactics and operations on the battlefield. Finally, Belarus and Russia are the neighbors of Ukraine. The soldiers of these countries are familiar with the area and landscape of the region, which is not in the North Koreans.

However, the Belarusian government understands that the departure of its soldiers to help Ukraine would be a road and unpopular mistake. Most Belarusian citizens oppose the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Most citizens also do not want Belarus to send their soldiers to fight. In addition to the civic opposition, many Belarusian military do not support the war. Yes, several officers resigned as a protest, while others joined foreign legions in Ukraine to fight the Russian invasion.

Finally, the Belarusian government is aware of its unpopularity and fears the opposition movement in the country. Belarusian officials understand that the departure of soldiers to fight to Ukraine will cause indignation throughout the country and will lead to protest movements. Therefore, in order not to lose power, the Belarusian government is doing everything possible to resist Russia's request to send soldiers to participate in its war.

But Russia shows impatience and despair, and it can apply power tactics to force Belarus to join the invasion. The Russian Federation understands that it is the largest trade partner of Belarus. Russian trading and credit programs help the Belarusian economy. If Russia decides that the North Koreans are not enough for war in Ukraine, it can resort to financial pressure to force Belarus to join. This is doomed to the death of thousands of Belarusian soldiers.

Now that Ukrainian troops continue to hold positions against the Russian and North Korean forces that have invaded, they will be in a state of increased combat readiness and follow the situation in Belarus. Ukraine understands the difficulties that Belarus can bring to the war, but is ready to accept the challenge. North Korea's involvement in the war of Russia has changed little on the battlefield.
