In case of nuclear war: Britain sell a rare cold war bunker (photo)

To spread: In the village of Derksingham, the British county of Norfolk has a rare bunker of the Cold War for sale - the former post of the Royal Supervisory Corps (ROC). It is estimated at £ 20,000 (approximately $ 26,548. 00). About it reports Daily Star. The auction is scheduled for May 8. The building was erected in 1957 as part of the national network of more than 1,500 observation points located throughout the UK.

Its main purpose was to identify nuclear attacks and monitor their consequences in the event of a conflict. The post in Derksingham served three volunteers in the form that have worked shifting from the moment of opening until 1991 disbanding. It was this year that ROC ceased operations after the Cold War. The hopper consists of two rooms connected by a metal ladder leading to a depth of about 15 feet (about 4. 5 meters).

In the smaller room there was a toilet, while the larger was used to conduct observations and recreation of staff. The territory also preserved a predator of the oritt type - a small above -ground structure that served as a point of observation of possible air threats. In the middle of the hopper is still a dummy, a historical artifact of the time that is its highlight.

According to Mark Apton from the East Anglian Auction House auction house, this object is of great interest for collectors and history of history. "This is really a special opportunity for those who are attracted to objects with historical significance. This post has once played an important role in the country's defense and will be a valuable property for a new owner who seeks to preserve our history," he added.
