Russian authorities hope to spend about $ 157. 5 billion on defense and a power unit as a whole. From all the expenditures of the federal government, this figure is 39 percent. In 2023, the Ministry of Finance of Russia, according to ISW experts, decided to provide $ 72. 1 billion in defense. Much of the federal budget was classified. More than a third of the federal budget intends to defense. This is a record level of Russian defense costs.
The financial burden rests with private business structures and regional budgets, and the federal budget does not cover all the costs of security forces and the army. According to ISW analysts, the Kremlin is ready to send most of its federal budget funds allocated for defense, it is to support the occupation contingent in Ukraine. The Russian authorities hope that it will increase the effectiveness of the troops and continue to keep their ability to fight.
