"Resources of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Denyed": A prisoner of Girkin wrote a letter about the situation on the front - ISW

Miroslav Reginskaya, the wife of Igor Girkin, revealed the content of the handwritten letter of her husband, dated October 26, in which he summarized the situation in the frontline zone of Ukraine for October.

In his letter, he noted that the situation for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is "gradually deteriorating" and that they show "more vulnerability (compared to Ukrainian opportunities)", despite "generally successful resistance" Ukrainian offensives in the summer and autumn months of 2023.

Girkin noted that the Russian Armed Forces not only could not start large -scale offensive operations in the early autumn season, but also failed to complete even limited offensive actions to achieve strategically important goals, including the Kupyansk, estuary and Avdiivka. In addition, he emphasized that tactical operations in the Avdiivka area led to significant losses among the personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the part of losses in living force.

Girkin suggested that Russia's efforts to reflect local Ukrainian attacks on the front line, as well as simultaneous offensive operations in the fall and winter, would probably have a negative impact on Russia's offensive and defensive capabilities by spring 2024. He emphasized that the Russian troops are ahead of the Russian troops aimed at solving operational crises, such as the presence of Ukrainian forces on the eastern (left) bank of the Kherson region.

Girkin argued that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation would remain incapable of large-scale offensive operations, even if Ukrainian troops cannot displace Russian advanced units and could not break through during the autumn-winter season, their resources will be exhausted.

Girkin, however, added that such a "positional scenario" is not guaranteed and that he is afraid that the Ukrainian forces can successfully break the Russian forces, which have already been exhausted for months of fighting. We will remind, Igor Girkin was arrested in July 2023 on charges of calls for extremism, and he threatens up to 5 years in prison. He declared his willingness to cooperate with the investigation, but continues to deny his guilt.
