In Russia, the broadcast of "Doomsday Radio" messages has been suspended due to a UAV attack: what is known

Share: The Telegram channel that broadcasts the shortwave radio station UVB-76, or Doomsday Radio, has announced that it has stopped broadcasting after a drone hit the substation. On the night of November 14, the Telegram channel "UVB-76 Ether", which monitors the activity of the radio station, announced the suspension of the broadcast of "Doomsday Radio" messages due to a power outage. However, the publication does not specify whether the broadcast of the channel or the radio itself is meant.

"There will be no broadcast temporarily. The problem is the power outage due to the UAV hitting the substation," the public administrators wrote. The last messages of the radio station on the channel were published on November 13. These are two lines of numbers and words in Cyrillic: "NZHTY NZHTY 19567 RZHAVLENYE 2888 5408" and "NZHTY NZHTY 38014 SYMOMOR 0808 2023".

At the same time, the broadcast of the UVB-76, or "Zhuzhzhalka" signal, is ongoing on the YouTube channel The buzzer 76 at the time of publication of the news. The media assume that the station is located approximately 28 km from Moscow. It should be noted that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on the alleged downing and interception of 216 drones over 11 Russian regions on the night of November 14, however, the Moscow region is not on the list.

Krasnodar Krai, occupied Crimea and the Black Sea, as well as Saratov, Volgograd, Rostov, Belgorod, Tambov, Bryansk, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod and Orenburg regions were under drone attack. Broadcasting of radio station UVB-76, which is called "Doomsday radio station", began in the late 1970s. Since then, it has been transmitting monotonous "buzzing" signals at a frequency of 4625 kHz, which is why it has also been nicknamed the "Buzzer".

Sometimes buzzing interrupts short messages with numbers and Russian words. BBC journalists wrote that UVB-76 may have a connection with the Perimeter strategic nuclear deterrence system created in the USSR, which can automatically launch a nuclear strike in response to the destruction of the command centers of the Russian Federation. Supposedly, if the radio signal is interrupted, the "Perimeter" will take it as a signal to attack.

At the same time, Andriy Kartapolov, the head of the Russian State Duma's defense committee, rejected the version of Zhuzhzhalka's connection with Perimeter at the end of 2024, although he noted that the radio station "performs its own important function. " It will be recalled that the Russian Doomsday Radio came to life on September 8 and transmitted two messages: the words "Nzhti" and "hotel" and the numbers 38, 965, 78, 58, 88 and 37.
