Under the terms of the agreement signed in Bydgoszcz, the US Government will act as a customer with contractors, including the Lockheed Martin concern. This was reported on August 13 by the profile edition of Defense24. It is noted that most of the modernization work will take place at military aviation plants # 2 in Poland. The first two planes will be sent to the US for tests. Modernization will allow the Polish F-16C/D to bring to the F-16V Block 72 level.
Among the key changes: the supply of modernized aircraft will occur from 2030 to 2038. This update will occur in parallel with the introduction of F-35A fighters and light combat aircraft FA-50/FA-50PL. "Today, the Polish F-16 is carrying a serious burden on the performance of operational tasks related to the protection of the country's airspace and allies, as they are the only multi-purpose aircraft that are in full combat readiness," Defense24 emphasized.
