The IAEA General Conference during its 68th session approved the resolution

IAEA called on Russia to immediately deduct the ZPP and return the station under the control of Ukraine

The IAEA General Conference during its 68th session approved the resolution "Nuclear Security, Security and Guarantee in Ukraine". The co-authors of the document were 52 member countries of the agency. This is stated in the Ministry of Energy, which published the full text of the resolution. The resolution confirms that Ukrainian nuclear power plants, including Zaporizhzhya NPP, should function under the full sovereign control of Ukraine.

The IAEA calls for the immediate withdrawal of military and other personnel of the Russian Federation from the territory of the ZPP and return the station under the control of the Ukrainian authorities to ensure its security. By the time of return of the ZPP, Ukraine is required to provide the IAEA unlimited access to all objects and information at the station.

The document supports the IAEA further efforts to overcome the risks of nuclear safety in Ukraine, especially in the context of the agency's CEO Decree to send observation missions to high -voltage substations that are key to Ukrainian NPPs. As well as maintaining the continuation of the IAEA technical assistance to Ukraine to ensure the safe operation of nuclear facilities and further political, financial and material support for the relevant programs.

The Ministry of Energy notes that during the Peace Summit, which took place on June 15-16, 2024, at the initiative of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the importance of ensuring the safe and stable work of Ukrainian nuclear stations, in particular, ZPP, under the full sovereign control of Ukraine, was emphasized. "Thankful IAEA, CEO of Raphael Grosssey, and all member countries of the agency who supported the resolution.
