"River - Natural Frontier": Why does the occupiers so want to capture Kupjansk (map)

The occupation forces left Kupjansk during the Armed Forces Counter-offensive in the fall of 2022, but their plans did not disappear to occupy the city, says Oles Malyarevich, a sergeant of the 92nd Brigade. The city is an important logistics unit. Russian troops intensified the fighting in the Limano-Kupjian direction. One of the goals of the invaders is to go to the left bank of the Oskil River and to capture Kupjansk, which is an important logistics node.

This was said in a comment for Channel 24, a sergeant of the UAV's mouth and arthraco for the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade Oles Malyarevich. The invaders want to restore lost positions in the Kupyan direction. To do this, they want to go about 20 km to go to the left bank of the Oskil River. The river is a natural barrier, so it is convenient to build a line of defense behind it, the military said.

During the Kharkiv counter -offensive, the Armed Forces were able to knock out the occupiers from Kupyansk, but they remained plans for occupation. "From Kupyansk to the border and in order to support the grouping in other areas of the front, the Russians need this city. Everyone understands the importance and value of this territory," Malyarevich explained. In addition, Kupjansk is an important logistics center through which an important railway passes.
