F-16 has been intercepted by seven Russian winged missiles: what caused the success of the Armed Forces

Successful destruction of hostile missiles was made possible not only by the presence of powerful radars and advanced aircraft, but also with the dedication of Ukrainian pilots. In an interview with Sky News, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that during a massive Russian Armed Forces missile strike, Ukrainian F-16 fighters successfully intercepted and destroy seven Russian winged missiles aimed at civilian objects.

In this regard, Army Recognition observers found out that the Air Force of the Armed Forces with the help of Western aircraft achieved such success. Experts write that receiving F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters have become a turning point for Ukrainian Air Force, as machines are equipped with advanced technologies and avionic.

These planes, known for their versatility, are equipped with an AN/APG-68 radar, which allows you to accurately identify and track goals, including the winged missiles that fly low. Ukrainian pilots used advanced AIM-120 AMraam interceptors up to 160 km and AIM-9 Sidewinder for melee, which gave them a significant advantage in air combat and when trapping threats such as winged missiles.

In total, Ukraine had to get 85 F-16 fighters from the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Belgium, which had to significantly strengthen the country's military-air forces. Prior to the F-16 receipt, Ukraine used Soviet MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters, which, although effectively used in the initial stages of the conflict, but did not have the same ability to fight modern threats as the F-16.

The advantages of F-16 to Soviet machines are not only their maneuverability and speed, but also in the advanced avionic, communication systems and capabilities to perform multi-purpose missions both "air-air" and "air-land". Another important aspect of the F-16 advantage is its compatibility with NATO systems. Now Ukrainian troops can coordinate their actions with the Air Force of Allies, exchange data and conduct joint operations.

"A recent successful interception of Russian winged missiles with Ukrainian F-16 testifies not only about the capabilities of the aircraft, but also about the dedication of Ukrainian pilots who have undergone rigid training for the transition from the Soviet platforms," the observers summed up. We will remind, in the beginning of October this year it became known that Ukraine received the first batch of F-16 fighters from the Netherlands.
