Hunting power by Russian assets should not be thoughtless

The government has more actively undertake to confiscate the assets of Russian oligarchs. I fully support such an initiative, but it is impossible to execute it thoughtlessly. Let's take the example of Khust and Zhezhelovsky careers, 100% of which since 2021 belong to the group of Ukrainian (Igor Mazepa, Vitaliy Antonov, Vasyl Danylyak) and German (Florian Gut) investors. None of them concerns Russian oligarchy.

We bought these assets from the Austrian manufacturer of Strabag building materials, where the Oligarch Deripaska had a 27%stock package. That is, these assets currently have nothing to do with Strabag or its minority shareholder Deripaska. But the Ministry of Justice, already knowing this information, continues to insist that these careers need to be confiscated because of their allegedly related deripas.

Maybe it would be worth admitting your mistake - they say, they used outdated information for compiling lists of Russian assets - and ask for an apology? After all, everyone can be wrong. But not, the Ministry of Justice continues to invent some new versions to tie us to the Russian oligarchy. For example, we purchased these assets "in Deripaski".

But Deripaska is only the third largest shareholder in Strabag, and therefore it will be naive to claim that he had some special influence on the management of this company. Perhaps Deripaska as a minority shareholder in Strabag has "earned" a lot that the Austrian holding sold us two Ukrainian careers? But the cost of the sale agreement was $ 2 million (with debt), or 0. 01% of the annual circulation of Strabag.

Or maybe we purchased the asset for the deripaska himself? Well, with the same success we could buy for a derip (or some other oligarch) anything, not just two careers of the Austrian holding, which made up 0. 01% of its total assets. Instead, we have purchased them to develop our own business materials, which also includes the "Kryvyi Rog Cement". And immediately they changed all the management of these companies, thus cutting off even theoretical ties with their former shareholders.

At the same time, even if the Strabag company remained the owner of these quarries today, it is unlikely that the Ministry of Justice would have enough reason to confiscate them. After all, in such situations, he does not do so. For example, the government did not fully confiscate Ocean Plaza shopping mall, the main owner of which is the Russian oligarch Rothenberg.

After all, the government left an intact share of 33%, owned by Vasyl Khmelnitsky (although this share was owned by Rothenberg by 2019). This solution looks logical, and for some reason, in the case of our quarries, there is some other logic. What else can the Ministry of Justice invent to connect us with the Russian oligarch? How much more will you close your eyes to a clear mistake in your assessment? They may have a lot of time there to reflect, lawsuits and appeals.
