There will be changes: the Ministry of Internal Affairs responded to an increase in the number of illegal weapons

Law enforcement officers are disturbed by a firearm, which is in their hands with Ukrainians participating in the war against the Russian Federation. Therefore, they expect amendments to the relevant law as soon as possible to order this issue. Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Leonid Timchenko commented on the Ministry's attitude to the illegal weapons owned by Ukrainians. He also explained the innovations of the bill, which makes changes to the declaration procedure.

This was reported by the press service of the Government Portal. Timchenko noted that because of the war, citizens have more firearms. It is about Ukrainians involved in the country's defense against Russian aggression, the official said. According to him, illegal weapons are regularly identified by employees of the National Police and the State Border Service. In order to streamline this situation, they are expected to adopt the Law No.

9538 of July 28, 2023, which has already been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. According to the bill, civilians involved in hostilities against the Russian Federation must declare weapons and register it in a special register. It should be borne in mind that it is about certain calibers of weapons: the Ministry of Internal Affairs awaits amendments to the law "On ensuring the participation of civilians in the protection of Ukraine".

After that, a special order of declarations and rules of weapons management, which will be observed by all Ukrainians, will be noted, since June 23, a single register of weapons has been opened - Minister Igor Klimenko reported on Facebook page. The official explained that the register functioning is somewhat limited - you can get information about your own registered weapons here.

At the same time, he announced that they plan to create an e -cabinet through which Ukrainians will be able to register on their own without leaving home. We remind you that lawyer Dmitry Lazebyny commented on the start of work of the Unified Register of Weapons. In his opinion, such innovation maximizes the "corruption component" and expands the number of electronic services that have become available to citizens. Meanwhile, the EU is worried about possible smuggling of weapons from Ukraine.
