Putin goes on a visit to Mongolia: he is obliged to arrest for a warrant from the Hague but there is a nuance

Mongolia ratified the Roman Statute in 2002. Last year, a representative of the country was elected a judge of the International Criminal Court in the Hague. On Tuesday, September 3, Vladimir Putin will visit the country for the first time that formally arrest him for a warrant who issued a court in Hague. The Kremlin announced the visit of the Russian President to Mongolia on Thursday, August 29. Putin gathered in Mongolia at the invitation of the President of the country Hurelsukh.

The Kremlin's head plans to take part in the events dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the "common victory of the Soviet and Mongol armed forces over the Japanese militarists on the Khalkhin-Gol River". The Kremlin added that the presidents will discuss "the prospects of further development of relations between countries, comprehensive strategic partnership, and will exchange views on topical international and regional problems.

" In 2002, Mongolia ratified the Roman Statute - the main document under which the International Criminal Court works, and in 2023 the representative of this country was elected Judge of the ISS for two years. At that time, Mongolia President Uhnaagiyn Khurylsukh noted that this appointment was evidence of the growth and strengthening of the country's international reputation, as well as trust in Mongolia by international organizations.

The ISS Member States are obliged to execute the warrant for Putin's arrest, reminiscent of BBC. At the same time, the publication noted that Mongolia has no access to the sea and borders only Russia and China, which complicates Putin's transportation to the Hague. This visit will be the first since March 2023, when Putin visits the country that signed the Roman Statute of the International Criminal Court after the court in Hague issued a warrant for his arrest.
