Security Problems: Why Australia Disposes MHR90 Helicopters rather than passing them on the Armed Forces

The royal air forces faced the problems of engines on Taipan in 2010. Since then, they have repeatedly broken and crashes with the dead. The Ukrainian community was protesting in Australia because of the government's decision to dispose of 45 MHR90 helicopters instead of handing them to Ukraine. The Australian TV channel ABC News told why Kiev would not receive helicopters. In September 2023, Australia laid the MHR-90 Taipan helicopters. The write -off was much earlier than planned.

It happened through the incident during Queensland's exercises. Then the MHR90 helicopter crashed and as a result 4 soldiers were killed. Initially, the Taipan helicopters planned to write off in 2037, but the royal air forces collided with a number of problems: December 19, 2023 Ukraine made an official request to obtain written off helicopters. The organizer of the rally that took place in Australia last weekend, Anton Bogdanovich says that Ukraine estimates the risks differently.

"We estimate the risks differently. We have war. Australian government why we want us all, taxpayers, pay about $ 2 billion to dispose of them. They want to bury helicopters in Australian land, pollute the environment instead of helping to a friend in trouble, "says Bogdanevich. Co -chairman of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organizations, Kateryna Argir said that the Australian Government did not explain why helicopters decided to dispose of.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia Vasyl Miroshnichenko said that he still hopes that there is an opportunity to get Taipan. He also did not receive an answer from the government. The Ministry of Defense representative told reporters that helicopters would dispose of ecological and economic ways, and some spare parts would be retained for other NH90 operators. More than 40 helicopters will be replaced by US UH-60M Black Hawk.

The department also stated that Australia remains one of the largest NATO countries to help Ukraine. The total assistance amounted to $ 910 million, of which 730 million went to military equipment. We will remind, on January 12 the Ukrainian diaspora urged Australia not to dispose of MH90 helicopters, but to pass the Armed Forces. On January 8, Janes analysts reported that Australia had already launched the process of recycling transport helicopters because they were not found on them.
