The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation destroyed a large warehouse with medicines in the Dnipro: the third strike on pharmaceuticals

Share: The Russian occupiers are trying to give Ukrainians not only a cold and dark winter by cutting off energy, but also intend to deprive them of access to medicine. For the third time, they struck the warehouses of one of the two largest Ukrainian pharmaceutical distributors. The warehouse of "Optima-Pharm" in Dnipro came under attack, reports "Economichna Pravda" with reference to sources in the company. As a result of the attack, it was completely destroyed. None of the employees were injured.

The extent of the damage has not yet been announced. According to the publication, this warehouse served the southern regions of Ukraine. This is the third attack on the company's warehouses in the last three months. The former warehouse, which served the center of Ukraine, was targeted by the Russian Armed Forces on October 25, during a large-scale attack on Kyiv. Then the office and warehouse complex were destroyed, and the damage amounted to about $100 million.

This attack also destroyed 20% of Ukraine's monthly supply of medicines. The occupiers first attacked the Kyiv warehouse on August 28. The pharmaceutical company "Optima-Pharm" has been operating on the Ukrainian market for over 30 years. This is a joint Ukrainian-Estonian enterprise that has 11 branches throughout the country. According to YouControl, in 2024 the company's revenue will exceed UAH 69 billion.

"Optima-Pharm" ranks second after "BaDM" in the market of wholesale trade of medicines, controlling together with it more than 85% of the distribution of medicines in 2022-2023. So far, neither the mayor of Dnipro, Borys Filatov, nor the OVA have provided more details about the attack on the Optima-Pharm warehouse. According to the information of T. V. O.

head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration Vladyslav Haivanenko, the Russian Armed Forces attacked Dnipro with drones on the night of November 15. The attack on the city began after midnight, at the same time an air danger was declared in the city, and the first powerful explosions were heard around one o'clock in the morning. Several fires soon broke out, private businesses and a car were damaged. One of the drones crashed near residential buildings.

We will remind you that the State Bureau of Investigation and the Prosecutor General's Office discovered that the Russian company JSC NPK "Katren", which is a co-owner of one of the largest Ukrainian distributors of medicines, LLC "Venta LTD", supplies medical goods and equipment to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Despite the war, the Russian owners of Venta LTD continue to make money on the Ukrainian drug market, where the company controls about 10% of distribution.
