Most people of Kyivans do not plan to leave the capital in case of military exacerbation - a survey

However, this applies to residents and other cities. The survey also showed that most Ukrainians believe in a better future. They will not leave their hometown and believe in the best exit for Ukraine: the results of a survey conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI).

A new public opinion survey has shown that the vast majority of Ukraine's population believes in a better future, positively evaluates the quality of services provided by local authorities, and plans to stay in their cities during the war with Russia and after its completion. The survey was conducted among 16800 respondents in 21 cities of Ukraine and is one of the most complete sections of public opinion in Ukraine. In some regions, for obvious reasons, the survey has not been conducted.

Stephen Nix, Senior Regional Director of IRI in Eurasia, noted that the results of the survey demonstrate the determination of Ukrainians and their level of trust in local authorities at this "very difficult time". The survey showed that Ukrainians plan to stay in the cities where they now live, despite the aggravation of the situation in wartime and after the war. 45% to 61% plan to stay within their city, even if the situation near it is complicated by hostilities.

And from 87 to 96% of residents in each of the surveyed cities said they were not going to leave their city after the war. As for Kiev, 60% of residents replied that they would remain in the city so that they did not happen, and 12% replied that they would go to the army. And only 8%, as it turned out, do not have a clear plan for this case. Respondents also asked which countries their relatives went to when the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation invaded the territory of Ukraine.

The survey showed that the overwhelming number of Ukrainians from all regions of Ukraine went to Poland. In second place - Germany. After the Italy, the USA and Canada go. Asked by which they see the future, from 74% to 90% of citizens answered that "faster". And most respondents in 18 out of 21 settlements - from 50% to 82% of respondents - believe that their city is developing in the right direction.

And many residents approve of the quality of services provided by local governments in their cities. Yes, 75-90% of respondents in each city estimated the quality of energy services for "good" or "excellent". We will remind, earlier it became known that Ukrainians began to complain more about violations of language legislation. In 2023, about 330 appeals were received every month - almost twice as much as compared with data for 2022.
