Five reasons to leave the Russian Federation: Former Moscow's Chief Rabbi advises Russian Jews to go

According to Pinhas Goldshmidt, tens of thousands of Jews have already left Russia during the full -scale war in Ukraine. He recommended his compatriots to leave the Russian Federation until there was no "iron curtain". Former Moscow Chief Rabbi Pinhas Goldshmidt advised his compatriots to go from Russia. He stated this during an interview with the DW newspaper. "I am concerned about the future Jewish community in Russia, and I'm not the only one who is concerned," Goldshmidt said.

According to him, during the military aggression of the Russian Federation this year the country has already left tens of thousands of Jews. Goldshmidt noted that there are five specific reasons why people are concerned about the future of the Russian Federation today. First, it is an increase in anti-Semitism in a belligerent state. Secondly, it is a potential new "iron curtain", that is, a complete ban on leaving the country.

"Everything goes to the fact that it will not be possible to leave Russia," he said. Another reason that causes the expediency of further life to be questioned in the Russian Federation-rigid sanctions, which today the whole world has introduced and continues to introduce against the aggressor country. According to the former chief rabbi of Moscow, they will cause serious damage to the economy of the Russian Federation in the long run.

The fourth reason to leave Russia is the general mobilization that can be announced in the state. The fifth reason is the expansion of repression against civil society that exist today, but can become much tougher in the future. We will remind, the chief rabbi of Moscow Pinhas Goldshmidt left Russia on June 8. It happened after the authorities demanded that he publicly support the military "special operation" in Ukraine. On July 6, Goldshmidt stated that he was leaving his position.
