The project was prepared after consultation with representatives of a number of Russian car manufacturers. Its initiators believe that the forced transfer of a taxi to a car of Russian production contributes to "the formation of general -federal technological sovereignty and the stability of the transport network to sanction pressure". In addition, it will allegedly increase the demand for Russian -made car.
The draft resolution contains the degree of localization of the car for the taxi of Russian assembly. It turned out that only Lada, UAZ and HAVAL cars meet the new requirements. But the new "Muscovite" and a number of other models of Chinese development in these standards do not fit. In fact, in this situation, Avtovaz will become a monopolist in the taxi market, because only in his line there are inexpensive budget models.
It is noteworthy that taxi services in the Russian Federation are protesting the forced transition to local production. The Association The National Taxi Council sent a letter to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin with a request not to prohibit a foreign car. The representatives of the taxi services explained their position by rise in prices of Russian cars by 70-80%, as well as a shortage of budgetary machines. However, their opinion was ignored.
