Every time, Ukraine is forced to agree with the West on any ATACMS and Strom Shadow missile strikes on Russian targets, and the partners, besides, do not talk about victory over the Russian Federation, but only about stopping the war, explained Yevhen Dykiy, a veteran of the ATO and a former platoon commander in the Aidar battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, the war will stop only when the Russians see before them a real threat of defeat.
According to Dyky, the Russian Federation and Putin are not planning a ceasefire, a truce, or an end to the war in the near future. According to him, the Russians could think about a truce if they saw that they would be defeated after, conditionally, six months. In addition, the partners consider it a "victory" if Putin simply stops shooting. Instead, as Dyky said, the end of the war will come when both sides fight to annihilate the enemy.
"The goal of war and an ersatz victory — let's consider it a victory if we force Putin to stop. And it doesn't work like that. When two sides work for mutual destruction and absolute victory, sometimes these sides have to stop in the middle and agree on an unpleasant compromise peace. That's what happens," he said. The Russian Federation currently has no motivation to hold back, as it sees weak demands from the West.
Therefore, under such conditions, Ukrainians should prepare for a difficult winter and the continuation of the war, Dyky emphasized. The columnist noted that Putin admires Stalin and "cosplays Hitler": in 1941, Hitler received generous peace offers from Stalin, but refused and subsequently lost. In his opinion, this is exactly what can happen to the Russian Federation, because in fact the Ukrainians still have every chance to win the war.
"As soon as we understand this, only then do we have a chance to at least not lose this war. We can win it - in fact, it is still the case," Dyky emphasized. Dykiy also answered the question of a journalist who was interested in Ukraine's ability to launch long-range strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation.
In this context, the observer noted that the Armed Forces received five types of missiles to carry out such attacks, including "Flamingos" with a range of 3,000 km and several types of "Neptunes" (from 350 km). The advantage of these types of weapons is that there is no need to coordinate strikes with Western partners, as was done with Storm Shadow and ATACMS.
According to the observer, this shows the importance of self-sufficiency in providing its own army: in the future, after the end of the war, Ukraine should invest money in the military industry to guarantee security. "If we do survive and win this war, then any person who says that we don't need to develop our defense system will immediately be poked in the face with the way we coordinated every strike with every missile.
The priority for us will always be to really have everything of our own now for the future," Dykyy said. It should be noted that on November 10, the "Ukrainian Pravda" portal published a column by the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, who spoke about the special front of the Russian Federation - peace negotiations and agreements on a ceasefire and ceasefire.
