The Chinese should stay away from the war: the Foreign Ministry spokesman spoke of captivity of his own citizens

Lin also confirmed that China holds a consistent position on the war in Ukraine and calls for the early cessation of hostilities and the beginning of peaceful dialogue. However, he called the war in conversation with the "crisis" journalists.

"We always stand for a peaceful settlement, support dialogue and oppose political speculation around this topic," the spokesman said. Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the Ukrainian military captured two Chinese citizens who fought on the side of the Russian army. In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the China stated that they were negotiating with the Ukrainian side to find out the details.

Subsequently, Zelensky also noted that Ukraine has data on at least 150 Chinese citizens who are fighting in the ranks of Russian troops. Recently, two captives of the Chinese gave a press conference, where they were told how they got to the war and prisoners. One of them, Zhang Renbo, appealed to the China Government to assist his return home through the exchange of prisoners of war between Kiev and Moscow.
