Symbolically for the Russians: Sternenko told why he wanted to kill him on May 1 (video)

To spread: Ukrainian volunteer and blogger Sergey Sternenko stated that the attempt on him could be dedicated to the anniversary of the events on May 2, 2014 in Odessa. He stated this during the air on his own YouTube channel. Sergiy Sternenko recalled that on May 2, 2025, it was 11 years since the day of mass riots in Odessa on May 2, 2014, where the Russians tried to create the so -called "Odessa People's Republic". He was a direct participant in those events.

"For Russia and its propaganda, the destruction of such as myself, people who participated in the defense of the Ukrainian South are symbolic. That is why it is important for them to kill me or any of the well-known participants in the events that came to the side of Ukraine," he added. According to Sergiy Sternenko, it is not a single incident.

He mentioned the poisoning of the third president Viktor Yushchenko, the murder of former MP Vyacheslav Chornovil, Ukrainian linguistics Irina Farion, activist and volunteer Demyan Ganul. According to the activist, every public figure, a volunteer, a well -known military is a target of Russians. Sergey Sternenko shared that he had leased an armored car and was given state protection.

On the day of the attempt, he was accompanied by a mixed security group - a personal security guard and participant of the special unit "Alfa". It was he, according to Sternenko, in fact saved him with his life, knocking out his arms. We will remind, on May 2, 2014 in Odessa clashes between pro -Ukrainian activists and pro -Russian forces took place - then the fight in the city center grew into large -scale riots. The culmination was a fire at the Trade Unions House on the Kulikovo field.

Mass riots killed 48 people. In March 2025, it became known that in Strasbourg, a large -scale decision was made on a number of claims on Ukraine's inaction during those events. Ukraine was found guilty of violating the European Convention on Human Rights and obliged to pay at 15 thousand euros compensation to relatives of the dead and 12 thousand euros - to the victims who received burns.
