Threat from the north: the Armed Forces explained the purpose of Russia to throw troops to Belarus

Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk, a group of defense forces of Kiev, told this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine. According to the general, as long as all the battle units of the enemy who were in Belarus were later transferred to Russia. One of them was spotted near the border with the Luhansk region. "It is likely that it will be used there. In Belarus, the creation of new Russian units is also being created. However, so far, all the combat units of the Russians go to the east," Pavlyuk said.

The General also reported that the Ukrainian command was watching the demonstration movement of the enemy's personnel and equipment by the territory of Belarus. In his opinion, such actions are carried out in order to distract the Ukrainian forces from the Eastern direction and to force the Armed Forces to keep some of the troops on the border with Belarus.

When asked how likely the offensive scenario is, Pavlyuk replied that it is probably possible if the enemy's successful advance on the Eastern Front. "A more likely scenario - if they have success in the East, then an offensive is possible from other directions, including from the north. To conduct offensive actions somewhere else, they need to create appropriate groups of forces and means," the general stressed.

In his opinion, if the Russians had this opportunity, they would not leave the north in March last year, would not escape from Kherson and would not be knocked out of Kharkiv region. Earlier it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin has set the task of fully capturing the Donbas by the leadership of the Armed Forces by March 2023.
