Putin and Zelensky's meeting in question: Lavrov again made a demand (video)

To spread: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reported that negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky have not been planned at this time. He specified that the meeting is possible only after the agenda is agreed. According to The Associated Press, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov stated that a meeting between the Presidents of Russia and Ukraine is not on the agenda.

According to him, Vladimir Putin is ready for dialogue with Vladimir Zelensky only when a agreed program of the summit is formed. Lavrov made this statement in an interview for the Meet The Press with Kristien Welker on NBC. He stressed that the Kremlin agreed to show flexibility in matters raised by US President Donald Trump. According to The Guardian, Lavrov's words were made against Trump's statements that he had started preparing for a possible meeting of Putin and Zelensky.

The American leader even stated that he would join them at a tripartite summit after previous arrangements. Despite these statements, the Russian side remains restrained. Lavrov stressed that Putin is ready to sit at the negotiation table only when the main issues will be worked out at the level of advisers and ministers. He stressed that this could be delayed as the positions of Moscow and Kiev are still significantly different.

At the same time, Western media noted that in recent days, doubts have increased as the Kremlin's willingness to accept key US proposals within peace initiatives. This increased the uncertainty around the possible format of negotiations. As reported by Focus, on August 19, Lavrov named the conditions for peace talks with Ukraine.
