In the east of Ukraine, the film crew of Die Welt came under fire: there are victims (video)

Next to them, a Russian Lancet drone hit a military vehicle. One Ukrainian fighter was killed, another was seriously wounded. Ivan received two shrapnel wounds in his legs, one of which has not yet been removed, but doctors predict a full recovery. Instead, Victor and Naber received minor injuries and temporarily lost their hearing, which later recovered. According to Naber, drones have radically changed the working conditions at the front.

Today, journalists cannot get as close to the front line as they used to: drones are capable of hitting any target in an open area within minutes. He compares the current situation with the fighting in Bakhmut in February 2023, when the film crew could be only two or three kilometers from Russian positions in the city during the day. Nowadays, such approaches have become almost impossible due to the constant risk of drone attacks.

Despite the high risk, Naber and his team continue to work on the front lines, because that is where the most honest testimonies and comments from soldiers can be obtained. The journalist emphasizes that official statements often differ from the real situation at the front, and direct presence in the combat zone allows you to see events as they really are. "What they say in Kyiv is one thing. And what the soldiers say at the front, especially in such extreme conditions, is completely different.

I often received the most honest answers where it was most dangerous," says the journalist. In addition, on his Instagram page, the journalist talked about the emotional state of the team after the attack: he shared his joy that producer Ivan was finally able to leave the hospital, despite the remains of a fragment in his leg, and thanked colleagues, friends and family for their support.

Naber also noted that during the attack, his team was just a few meters from the Ukrainian crew, which shot down the drones, saving lives, and showed video footage of the moments after the impact, some of which will be included in the report for WELT. He emphasized that the support of the editors and colleagues played a key role in restoring the fighting spirit of the team.
