A million shells per month: they can, but do not want. Why the US and Europe do not start the production of weapons

Theoretically, Europe and the US could produce a million shells a month - enough for the front. But practically, the economist Pavel Vernivsky thinks, it is not a profile production, and where to go the shells, if suddenly peace? Do you know why Europe or the United States is not starting the production of shells? Not because they cannot.

Simply, if someone does not know, in the years of the First World Coalition of the Entente (mainly France and Britain) produced 780 million shells! And Germany with Austria-Hungary-690 million! Moreover, Germany started a war for 4 million shells a year and ended the war with production of 130 million a year.

And the United Kingdom began a war for production of 2 million shells, and ended with production as much as 200 million a year! All these figures were achieved through a large -scale increase in production itself and all components, such as gunpowder, explosive. And solely because the shells were then produced by the rapid "cast iron" technology. I would also like to remind that after the war, most of these plants were unnecessary and had to be closed until the Second World War.

And now they cannot "produce these shells on a more modern technology of" hot pressing of the special steel ", which is ten times slower than outdated technology. Technically, they could 100 times increase volumes by modern technology. However, there is an important nuance! He spoke with one ammunition manufacturer half a year ago. The payback of such projects is at least 7 years. Plus no one puts in the project to pay it, but also want to make money.

Suppose they will start producing 1 million shells per month. This is enough to achieve an advantage over Russia and win a war.

Another question is whether such production will pay off! Does anyone understand what manufacturers of these shells will do if the war is supposed to end in 2 years? Will they sell their own states for warehouse? Only I will remind that Russia, a country with the largest warehouses, started a war with 20-30 million shells !! If Europe wants to create a warehouse of 50 million, then this warehouse will be filled in 4 years. And this term is not enough to pay off production.

Also, many do not calculate whether the meaning of Europe is to create such warehouses! How much the infrastructure will cost. How much storage will cost. And how much will the disposal of these shells cost, if there is no war? I am silent that Europeans understand that when the threat increases their industrial potential will allow you to quickly produce both equipment and shells - and it will be more profitable. We did not count these figures, though it would be worth not to draw any illusions.
