It is known that the military has already conducted successful tests of the leunberg lens, which is attached to the drone and used to identify enemy weapons and the type of weapons, which is used against land forces, aircraft and helicopters. Luneberg lens, attached to UAVs, increases the radar visibility of the drone, making it like a helicopter. This forces the enemy to take air defense measures, such as using rockets or anti -aircraft guns.
In other words, if you send a swarm of drones equipped with a lens, it can confuse the radars of the enemy, warning that combat helicopters are approaching the target. In this way, it is possible to detect not only the dislocation of the air defense systems, but also to force the military to spend the necessary ammunition on such a small purpose as drone.
The developers-the Army Design Bureau-add to the LUNEBERG lens can cover the 360-degree zone on the radar and reflect the radar signals from any direction. It can be used to mask the planned route of helicopter operations of the army, when several quadcopters can be directed in one direction, deceiving enemy radars. In the KB, it was specified that during the tests of the lens it was installed on a drone with a distance of up to 15 km, which lasted in the air for 40 minutes.
He showed himself well in working at different temperature modes: he coped with the tasks in the desert and highlands. However, the LUNEBERG Lenser is not able to mimic the fighter in order to mislead the enemy air defense system. Designers hope that in the near future it is possible to develop UAV with appropriate characteristics.
