LOOPARD 2 tank got into the hands of the Russians: the car is inspected at Uralvagonozavod (Video)

Military experts noted that studying a German tank may reveal some aspects of Western technologies, but it is unlikely to lead to any short-term breakthroughs in Russian tank-building. A German Leopard 2A6, captured by the Russian military in the war zone in Ukraine, was delivered to the enterprise of the Russian Corporation "Uralvagonzavod". This was reported on October 2 in Defense Blog, citing the company's press service.

The tank was left by a crew, probably because of a technical malfunction, not due to hostilities, and is in a fairly good condition. According to the statement in Russian media, experts will analyze the equipment of the machine to evaluate its combat and technical capabilities. "Experts will analyze the nodes, systems and subsystems of the tank to evaluate the real military-technical level of different systems and the most passionate machine," the message reads.

It is noted that Russian experts have already started a detailed study of the machine. The tank was lifted to jacks, and work began on its disassembly. Uralvagona experts analyze the tank design, including nodes and systems to give a military-technical assessment. The results of the study can provide important data for the Russian military, but the termination of work is not yet called. Leopard 2A6 is one of the most modern tanks of Western production that NATO countries actively use.

Its admiration gives Russia a unique opportunity to study a system that was actively used against its troops after the supply of equipment by Western partners of Ukraine. However, experts believe that Russia's current industrial capacity may be insufficient to reverse the tank. The observers emphasized that the last Russian tank, T-90M, was developed in response to modern Western and American armored vehicles.

However, as the analysis of Russian tanks captured by Ukrainian troops, Russia still depends on foreign components and did not make significant progress in the development of tanks beyond the 1990s. Although the study of Leopard 2A6 may reveal some aspects of Western technologies, experts say that it is unlikely to lead to any short-term breakthroughs in Russian tank-building.
