Strengthening air defense, continuation of defense support and joint production of weapons - results of the meeting of the President of Ukraine and Chancellor of Germany

In general, during this time, they met at international events and in Germany, more than 30 times have communicated by phone and online. Also in the summer of 2022, German Chancellor visited Kiev with the leaders of France, Romania and Italy. The President thanked Germany for the extremely important, tangible support: Germany in terms of assistance - in the first place in Europe.

“The leadership of Germany is especially significant in the help of our protection of the sky: the most aircraft for Ukraine was given by Germany. Olafe, I want to thank you personally and all German society, ”the Head of State said. According to him, the Patriot, Iris-T, Iris-T provided by Germany, the Gepard anti-aircraft units have already rescued tens of thousands of people and hundreds of infrastructure.

Separately, the President thanked for a new military package for 650 million euros and a clear delivery time - this month. Among the topics discussed during the meeting are the continuation of defense cooperation and sanction pressure on Russia, as well as maintaining the level of support from Germany next year. Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the key to joint security on the continent is geopolitical certainty. It provides for two issues for each country in Europe - for the EU and NATO.

“For Ukraine, both of these issues are fundamental. The faster we get answers to them, the faster it will be an end to the aggressive ambitions of Russia, ”he emphasized. Olaf Sholtz noted that the total amount of assistance provided by Germany has been provided to Ukraine since the beginning of a full -scale Russian invasion of about 28 billion euros.

In particular, five full IRIS-T sets, three Patriot systems, more than 50 Gepard anti-aircraft installations with missiles, shells and spare parts were transmitted to enhance the air defense.
