The Russian Federation has almost completed the construction of the railway that will connect Mariupol with Rostov-on-Don

According to the mayor of Mariupol Petr Andryushchenko, the railway should work approximately in late May or early June. The Russians have almost completed the construction of the railway, which should connect the temporarily captured Mariupol with Rostov-on-Don. This was announced on the air of Espresso by the adviser to Mariupol mayor Petro Andryushchenko.

He noted that during April and early May, eyewitnesses recorded three test trains from the occupied Volnovakha of Donetsk region to the port in Mariupol and in the opposite direction. At the same time, they arrived from Volnovakha loaded with kaolin and ore, which they load on the Liberian ship stolen last year. "And from the Mariupol Port, the train generally came out empty to test the track," Andryushchenko said.

According to him, the track, which Russian invaders continue to build near the village of Granitne through the Telmanivskyi district, which connects Mariupol with Volnovakha and Rostov-on-Don, in fact, they were completed, both on the bridges and at the site of the railway connection. Petro Andryushchenko added that the railway should work approximately in late May or early June.

Back in September 2023, Andryushchenko reported the efforts of Russian invaders to build a direct railway connection with Mariupol, Volnovakha and Donetsk. The official then reported that if successful, it would include the existing branch of Mariupol-Azlanov-Kalchik-Volnovakha in a direct connection with Russian Taganrog and Rostov-on-Don. On May 2, it became known about the completion of the railway construction from the captured Mariupol.
