Russia creates its Starlink: What is known about the project of satellite communication "Rassovet"

To spread: The Russian side has stated its own satellite communication system, which can be compared to the American Starlink. According to Dmitry Bakanov, the head of "Roscosmos", several experimental samples have already been tested in orbit, and serials were modified "appropriately". On the air of the propaganda program "Solovyov Live" Bakanov answered the question that the Russian military, as well as fighters of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, use American terminals.

The head of Roscosmos reported that the project was called "Rassvet" and is developed within the framework of the company "Bureau 1440". "We will respond to Starlink by Rasvett, developed by the Bureau 1440. We will create low -orbiting companions of broadband communication," Dmitry Bakanov said. It is expected that the deployment of a satellite group of broadband access to the Internet, similar to the Starlink system, will begin in December 2025.

The Polish edition of Defense24 writes that there is very little information about the project. It is known that the first 80-kilogram satellites were deduced into orbit in June 2023, and three months later the Bureau 1440 declared the establishment of a satellite Internet connection. Also in 2024, the media reported that from the Space Stonetsk with the help of the Soyuz-2. 1B rocket launch was launched-three satellites with 5G NTN (Non-Terrestrial-Network) were displayed into space.

Moreover, the Space Voyaging portal wrote that the Russian company plans to launch 900 satellites in low Earth orbit by 2035. According to analysts, Moscow views satellite communication as an element of digital sovereignty and a means of counteracting Western technological advantages. Starlink, created by SpaceX, already plays a significant role in military conflicts, including war in Ukraine, where terminals are connected even in the conditions of destroyed infrastructure.

Today, SpaceX has over 7,000 active satellites and almost 5 million users worldwide. In this case, the launches of new devices are performed several times a week. We will remind, in early September it became known that the Russian company KB "Valkyria" presented a new drone rd-8, which can be controlled through satellite Internet Starlink. According to experts, such drones are very dangerous because they are practically invulnerable to traditional HRB and are able to strike in the rear.
