A huge selection and "gray" mass: Ukraine and the Russian Federation are different in the production of UAVs-BI

To spread: the Russian army uses fewer types of drones than the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This simplifies their recognition and destruction. The operator of drones from the forces of the unmanned systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmitry Zhluktenko told the Business Insider (BI). Some types of Russian drones are very easy to calculate. Russians rarely change their structures. Ukraine is acting on the contrary: it offers the enemy to repel attacks by various types of UAV.

The wide variety of drones in the Armed Forces is facilitated by a huge national unmanned industry, which has hundreds of companies that produce a wide range of different models and technologies. The Russian Federation focused on the production of more than several models. This helped it to adjust large -scale production, but Ukrainian drone operators identify them quite easily and use effective methods of combating them.

"It is very difficult for the invaders to surprise us, and it is very easy for us to surprise them," the military explained briefly. Defense purchases in Russia are strictly centralized: soldiers receive weapons from state producers and allies - Iran and North Korea. In Ukraine, there are hundreds of national defense companies that operate directly with the Armed Forces units and volunteer networks that buy and modify new equipment for soldiers.

According to James Patton Rogers, a drone expert at the Cornell Brooks Institute of Technical Policy, a centralized process of military production in Russia has a number of risks. If an error in the component, it will spread to all systems. "If there is a loophole that allows you to break the system, then it will spread to all systems and make them vulnerable," - said the specialist in communication with BI. Ukraine produces most of its drones itself. Its military said that more than 96% of 1.

5 million drones purchased in 2024 were of Ukrainian origin, this number should increase in 2025, the publication said. Mauro Jillie, a senior researcher in the field of military technology at Swiss Higher Technical School of Zurich, said BI that Russia has no such production as Ukraine, neither in scale nor in variety. Ukraine is the first in the world to develop some unmanned technologies, including a variety of sea drones and long -range models flying at a distance of almost 3,000 kilometers.

Zhluktenko said that in the battle zone of his unit up to 80% of blows on Russian infantry and mechanized purposes are caused by drones. The Armed Forces are used to detect and strike, damage Russian ships and oil refineries, as well as instead of artillery tools. However, Russia's same type to drone production does not mean that the Victory of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is a simple task.

According to the military, the recognition of drones can still be a big problem, as they are launched on the front. Another drone operator, who spoke with BI on anonymity, said that there may be so many blankets in the sky that the infantry orders to knock down anyone they see. The focus previously wrote about ways to combat drones on the fiber. The military of the Armed Forces has the idea to use laser illumination to detect the cable of the device.
