The US has imposed sanctions against Russians for the use of chemical weapons against Ukraine

In total, the sanction measures were applied to more than 280 individuals and legal entities related to Russian aggression against Ukraine. Restrictions to Rosatom subsidiaries were imposed. The US Government has imposed new sanctions against Russia and related legal entities and individuals for the use of chemical weapons during a full -scale invasion of Ukraine. This was announced on May 1 by the US Government press service.

In total, the United States applied sanctions to more than 280 individuals and legal entities related to Russian aggression against Ukraine and internal repression. At the same time, some of them were imposed on the use of chemical weapons by Russian troops in accordance with the law on control over chemical and biological weapons and the elimination of hostilities in 1991.

"The United States recognizes that Russia used chemical weapons with chlorpikrin against Ukrainian troops, violating the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (KHZ). In addition, Russia used chemical fight against mass riots as a method of war in Ukraine, as well as violating the Convention on the use of chemical. " - says in the statement.

It was also added that cases of use by the Russians of this type of weapons are not single and caused by the desire of the Russian military to displace Ukrainian defenders from their positions and achieve tactical advantages in the battlefield. Thus, as part of this decision, Washington imposes sanctions on organizations and persons involved in purchases for the military or participate in Russian chemical and biological weapons programs.

The sanctions were: the property of the above entities under control in the United States will be blocked. In addition, the US government also imposed sanctions on a number of Russian organizations and individuals in the sphere of energy, mining, heavy industry and machine tools. In particular, restrictions on Rosatom subsidiaries were imposed. Recall that according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Russian troops are beginning to use dangerous chemicals on the front.
