According to journalists, Russian civil servants check the cellars and other shelters, repair and clear objects that have not been used since the USSR. These steps are part of the wider efforts of the Russian authorities to ensure the readiness of civil defense infrastructure in case of expansion of hostilities. According to sources, the bomb shelter preparation campaign was not officially announced.
However, it is not caused by specific threats or plans for the use of civil defense infrastructure. However, after Russia has encountered a number of bureaucratic problems in Russia due to the mobilization of 300,000 people in the fall, the Kremlin does not want to risk and hopes to prepare for the war in the Russian Federation. In parallel, in the border with Ukraine, the local authorities officially announced the preparation of shelters.
Checking bomb shelters is a striking example of how a full -scale war in Ukraine has been increasingly militarizing Russian society for nine months. One of the Moscow realtors told the publication that some clients are already interested in whether the bomb shelters in the building are offered in the apartments. At the same time, Kyiv persistently repeats that the purpose of Ukraine is to liberate the country's territory from invaders.
