The Russian Federation argues that ammunition with depleted Uranus can cause cancer and harm the environment. This is a way of manipulating the public that is not versed in this topic. On September 6, the United States announced that they would give the Ukrainian military ammunition with a depleted Uranus. This immediately caused indignation on the Russian side. At the Center for Combating Misinformation (CPD), weapons were told in more detail.

It is a 120mm Abrams tanks that have to come to the battlefield for several weeks. This type of weapons has entered a new US $ 175 million help package. The CPD noted that the Russians predicted negatively to such steps from Washington and began to spread information that the number of people with cancer would significantly increase due to these ammunition.

"The fact that the Russian military has been using such shells on the battlefield for a long time - the Russian authorities are silent for some reason," the message reads. The center of combating misinformation noted that the depleted uranium is the remnants of metal that is created during the production of nuclear fuel. It is about 70% higher than the density of lead, which is used in most cases in normal ammunition.

Ammunition with depleted Uranus is used for military purposes, including the destruction of tank armor. Accordingly, this will help Ukraine more effectively destroy Russian equipment on the battlefield. The UN still opposes that this type of ammunition is used by Ukraine, as it is forbidden by international law, and the IAEA has made many statements that residents of settlements close to the front may be in danger through radiation.

At the same time, the organization is recognized that impoverished uranium can only cause harm if its particles get directly inside the body. The CPD noted that the Russians also have this type of weapons, which was repeatedly stated in the United States and personally by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Moreover, the Russian media reported that modernized tanks of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation by type T-80BV can shoot the same ammunition.

"Manipulating on the topic of Ukraine's transfer of shells with depleted Uranus, the Russian Federation and its propaganda tries to take advantage of the ignorance of the population in this matter and spreads panic among people, which can lead to destabilization of the situation in the country," - summed up in the CPD. We will remind, on September 7 it was reported what benefits will receive the Armed Forces on the battlefield after supplies of uranium shells for Abrams and Challenger 2.
