Strengthening air defense and expanding the PURL program - the President met with representatives of NATO countries

In Kyiv, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with representatives of the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Canada and the Netherlands under NATO. The head of state thanked the partners for their support and noted the contribution of each country to the defense of Ukraine.

First of all, the President expressed his gratitude to Germany for Patriot systems, the USA for the opportunity to purchase weapons and air defense systems through the PURL program, Great Britain and France for missiles, Canada and the Netherlands for contributions to the PURL initiative, as well as all other countries for their support and assistance. Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on all countries that are not yet members to join the PURL program. "Thank you all for coming to Ukraine, to Kyiv.

It is very important and symbolic for us, and of course it is a very important signal of support. Thank you that Ukraine, Ukrainians can count on your countries, that we can count on the support of NATO, on the leaders of your states. This is important during the war," said the President.

During the meeting, they discussed in detail the possibilities for strengthening the protection of the Ukrainian energy industry before the onset of winter: the purchase of additional air defense systems, missiles for them, as well as the strengthening of Ukraine's combat aviation. The Permanent Representative of the United States of America to NATO noted that coordination of the November and December aid packages in accordance with Ukraine's needs is ongoing.

"I want to make sure that everything is working, that the military gets everything they need, that the Patriot air defense systems, the PAC-3, PAC-2 missiles are delivered as quickly as possible so that you can protect critical infrastructure as winter approaches," said Matthew Whitaker. During the meeting, they also discussed increasing pressure on Russia. The head of state thanked the USA for the sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil, as well as the European Union for the 19th sanctions package.
