Subsoil Agreement between Ukraine and the US: Will Trump Pressure on Putin for Peace

To spread: During a recent meeting in the Vatican, Trump pressed Zelensky about the fastest signing of the Nutrity and the United States. Will the President of the USA signing a treaty on rare earth metals to take a stringent position in relation to the Russian Federation in the process of peaceful settlement, found out the focus.

Shortly before it became known that Ukraine and the United States eventually signed a bilateral mineral agreement, AXIOS with reference to the knowledgeable sources revealed the details of the recent 15-minute conversation between the presidents of Zelensky and Trump in the Vatican. It is noted that there were no arrangements in advance, and the idea was that the leaders would try to meet after the funeral of the Pontiff.

However, as a result, they "came across each other" after arrival and promptly found a place for talking a tet-a-tet in St. Peter's Cathedral.   "Zelensky said Trump that Putin would not move out of place if the US president does not start pushing him anymore. Trump replied that he may have to change the approach to Moscow.

The Ukrainian president also called on to return to the initial proposal of the United States for the unconditional truce, as a starting point for peaceful talks, which Ukraine agreed and Russia is not.  According to one of the interlocutors, Trump allegedly agreed with this opinion, ”Axios notes, adding that during a blitz in the Vatican, the White House master pressed the Ukrainian visa as soon as possible.

Earlier, Donald Trump has repeatedly commented on the course of negotiations on this agreement, emphasizing its importance in the context of the process of peaceful settlement in the Russian-Ukrainian war.

By stateing Trump's "tremendous pleasure" by the very fact of signing the agreement, political scientist Oleg Liszi said in conversation with Focus: "The satisfaction of the US President is due to the fact that he believes that he managed to sell his electorate in particular and the Americans in general victory. In principle, if Trump's presidency would not have victories up to 100 days, he would definitely invent them.

But we actually gave him this victory, despite the fact that there are many work there, because there should be a ratification in the Verkhovna Rada, etc. However, speaking of the political aspect, we have once again demonstrated the United States our constructivism. Bad is it good? Well, because, given the systematic emotional swings of Trump, it is better to be among his conditional friends than among enemies.

"  The political scientist does not exclude that the first sign of warming in relations between Kiev and Washington is the unlock of the US $ 50 million to sell weapons to Ukraine. Although fifty million dollars in the general military dimension are a drop in the sea, however, the expert notes, this is a good step and perhaps the start of a more constant trend.

“Personally, like many Ukrainians, it is like that and what Trump and his entourage speak of us, the main thing is that the United States would help and press on Russia. So far, the issue of increasing US pressure on the Russian Federation is open, since the pressure should be comprehensive when, on the one hand, we are given the required amount of weapons, and on the other, there is a serious pressure not only on the Russian Federation but also on its allies.

This is extremely important because without the DPRK, China, Iran, Russia would now fight somewhere in the Urals. But this, unfortunately, does not happen despite the fact that the event states the participation of these countries in the Russian-Ukrainian war, ”Oleg Liszh emphasizes.   According to the political scientist, the signing of the subsoil agreement in the political sense is a clear positive and continuation of successful diplomacy after the Roman meeting of Zelensky with Trump.

“If we measure the temperature on the ward, starting from the known events in the oval office, then the current degree suits me. Will the degree stay on this mark for a long time? The same Trump, I think, cannot give this question a clear answer. The trend should be maintained and not given the opportunity to either the United States nor, especially Russia, to blame us for the constructiveness and disruption of peace talks, ”the political scientist emphasizes.

Oleg Liszi believes that the signing of the Liquid Earth Agreement can, to some extent, deactically the US rhetoric on the likely exit from the talking peace process.   "Trump usually makes a decision based on emotions, but the signing of this Agreement makes a scenario of the united states of peace by peace, not unlikely but accurately complicated.

But, given the Trump temperament, it cannot be excluded that in which he can decompose a transaction on the Navels and a peaceful case into different plates, ”Oleg Lisz concludes.    Political Earth Metals, political scientist Dmitry Levus, considers political winning, especially for Trump. “Given the many promises of Trump, he constantly needs to show at least some victories.

And in this regard, the very fact of signing the subsoil agreement, despite the fact that the document is different from the fact that the US side was initially pushed, is a "victory" for the US President, "the expert states.

Answering Focus questions about whether the agreement has been signed by an additional basis for the White House for pressure on Russia, Dmitry Levus noted: “I would not be too optimistic in this sense, since even a direct direct investment involvement in the United States is not capable of protecting Ukraine from Russian rocket and morning punches. And any additional security guarantees from the United States within the Liquid Earth Agreement, apparently, are not mentioned.

”  The expert also noted that despite the alleged anti -Russian statements (video) of Kelloga and other Trump team, Putin's attitude has not changed and he still remains a partner with which the US, according to the local authorities, can and should develop relationships.   The political scientist suggested that the Rare Earth Agreement is unlikely to become a factor that will encourage the US President to be more decisive or radical to Russia.

At the same time, Dmitry Levus, the Podram Agreement, will to some extent contribute to the consolidation of the United States in the negotiation process on peaceful settlement.   In this context, it should be noted that one of Trump's key associates in the Senate, Republican Lindsey Graham, today, stated that if Putin continues to avoid serious negotiations about the end of the war, then his 72 colleagues are ready to vote for new "devastating" sanctions against the Russian Federation.
