According to data published on the official website of the German government, the defense forces have received a wide range of weapons and equipment, including armored vehicles, self-propelled artillery installations, engineering equipment, ammunition and IRIS-T.
The package includes the following types of weapons and equipment: the German government also confirmed new planned supplies, among them: as noted by the "Militar" observers, the announced military aid package has been supplemented with new elements that have not been transmitted before. Among the anti-aircraft missiles RIM-7 SEA Sparrow and AIM-9L/I-1 Sidewinder Air-Air-Air missiles.
Although Germany for the first time transmits Ukraine-7 Sea Sparrow, these missiles have already been used by Ukrainian military but were supplied by Belgium. In September 2023, Belgium bought these missiles from Germany, where they previously served on Bremen frigates. The observers emphasized that in the conditions of acute shortage of original missiles for the Buk-M1 SCR, Ukraine had to upgrade its systems as part of the Frankensam program.
The project was designed jointly by Ukrainian and American engineers and was first implemented in November 2023 in the United States. As a result, the Buk-M1 MDCs were able to use SEA Sparrow missiles, which are capable of hitting targets up to 20 km away and up to 15,000 km in height. The German version of AIM-9L missiles, modified to AIM-9L/I-1, can be used either on F-16 that is already in service of Ukraine or within the framework not yet demonstrated AIM-9m.
