Osint channels reported that the Russian Federation closes the sky over the Kapbin Yar landfill: what does it mean (maps)

To extend: Russia has transmitted the notice to Air Mission on the closure of the airspace over the military training ground, from which the Medium -range ballistic missiles "Orezhnik" had previously launched in Ukraine. The closure will work during the day. This was reported by OSINT channels on Telegram late on the evening of May 9. On May 8, 2025, the Russian Notam Center published a message for the field of flight information (FIR) of Rostov (URRV).

The type of message is QRTCA (Tempoury Restricted Area), which indicates the temporary closure of the airspace. It is noted that the limitation area is approximately 110 per 70 kilometers. This covers the Kapryn Yar landfill in the Volgograd region, as well as part of the neighboring Saratov region. The closure will be valid during the day - from 06:00 on May 12 to 06:00 on May 13.

According to analysts, in practice, such warnings indicate the complete closure of the airspace for any flight, except for those with special permission of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. "The SFC-UNL height limit indicates that the object can rise to the stratosphere and above (typical for BSD/MBR weapons)," the researchers say. However, it is noted that this does not mean that Russia plans to hit Ukraine with a "oreschnik".
