The combat vehicle support for the Azov tanks was dug with the help of special equipment. There was no optics or weapons on the car. The Azov BMPT project is the 2015 development. It was based on the T-64 tank chassis. Therefore, the weight of the machine is about 41 tons. The BMPT crew consists of four fighters: a commander, two shooters and a driver mechanic. The development of "Azov" was engaged in the engineering group "Aye", headed by engineer Sergey Stepanov, who worked at the plant. Malyshev.
The first tests began in March 2016. BMPT provided a high level of protection by reservation of the T-64 and additional dynamic protection "knife" (according to other data of the Duplet "Duplet"). Azovtsa combat module consisted of two automatic GSH-23 guns, which only Russia produced, and the machine guns of PKT 7. 62 mm. The towers were independent and could fire for different purposes. The installation of Stugna or Corsair PTRC was planned.
Among the disadvantages was the absence of triplexes for inspection, instead there were camcorders, which the crew had to navigate. The price of one BMPT "Azov" was to be $ 5 million. As a result, the Azov BMPT did not go to the series. The only instance was made, which now was taken by the invaders from the ground. We will remind, the media wrote that in Ukraine before the invasion of the BMP "Babylon" program, which was to withstand even tank ammunition.
