Ukraine will only join NATO after victory in the war - Zelensky (video)

According to the President, joining NATO is a large extent, especially since Russia has worked for a long time that Ukraine has never become a member of this military alliance. Ukraine will only join NATO after winning the war with Russia, because for some Alliance Member States, Ukraine's accession creates risks. This was announced during a meeting with officers who take place in professional military education according to NATO standards, said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

"In my personal opinion, we will be in NATO only when we win. I do not think that they will take us in NATO during the war. It is a risk of NATO members, someone has a skepticism because of that," Zelensky said. He said that all members of the Alliance should be approved by NATO's accession, which is a more political issue than a military nature. "In order for politically Ukraine to take the Alliance, this requires a victory," the President of Ukraine stressed.

At the same time, the Head of State noted that he considers one of the reasons for a full -scale Russian invasion that Ukraine has not become a member of NATO so far, since the Russian Federation has been working on it systematically. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who was also present at the meeting, said that all alliance member states agreed that Ukraine would be in NATO.

However, he confirmed that the problem lies in the political plane, since the admission of a new country to the Military Union requires not a majority of votes, but to agree all 32 states that are already in NATO. "We have no such consent yet," Stoltenberg explained. We will remind, on April 29, Jens Stoltenberg stated that Ukraine will become a member of NATO immediately, when the right moment would come for this, because this path is irreversible.
