Major General Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, spoke about the modified Russian anti-aircraft missiles during his speech on October 20 at the "Energy That Holds Ukraine" forum, which was broadcast by the "RBK-Ukraine" news agency.
According to Skibitsky, the Russians are perfecting a universal planning and correction module, with which they convert conventional aerial bombs into guided ones with the ability to plan and increase the range of damage. "They make it possible to use conventional aviation bombs of 250, 500, 1,500 and 3,000 kg in a new way," explained the representative of the GUR.
According to information available to military intelligence, during September and October 2025, Russia developed and now went to the final experimental use in combat of aerial bombs with new control modules. "The combat radius of such bombs will be about 200 km. We saw the first such strikes on the Dnipro, now we see them on other cities — this is exactly the approach that the Russian Federation uses: increasing the range, increasing immunity against our radio electronic warfare systems.
Unfortunately, they are already starting to mass produce such weapons," said the deputy head of the GUR. He added that this weapon is called "Grim-1" or "Grim-2", but in fact it is an aerial bomb with universal modules, capable of planning and barrage. Its combat radius of use is 150-200 km. "According to our data, during one of the last tests they conducted, they reached a range of 193 km," said Skibitsky.
On October 20, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced that the Russians had attacked the Poltava region with an air defense missile for the first time since the beginning of the invasion. Local media claim that the bomb fell 30 km from the city. According to monitoring channels, the Russians hit Lozova in the Kharkiv region with the same bomb on October 18.
