Putin and Orban continue to be friends: Hungary and the Russian Federation confirmed their ties in the forum in China

According to Reuters, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that Russia is considering Hungary as a key potential enemy of Ukraine's accession to the European Union. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in the fields of the International Forum on the Chinese initiative "One Belt-One Way". About it reports Reuters.

According to the agency, the heads of the two countries met in a government guest house, where, according to the head of the press service of the Hungarian leader Bentalan Khavas, they discussed supply of gas and oil, as well as the issues of nuclear energy.

"Orban stressed that for Europe, including Hungary, it is very important to put an end to Russia's sanctions and fighting in Ukraine, as well as to stop the flow of refugees," Khavasi said in a comment to Reuters, but did not clarify who was initiated by the meeting. Thus, Hungary reaffirmed its commitment to Russian-Hungarian ties against the background of international tension.

At the same time, Orban noted that the agency writes that Hungary has always opposed many EU initiatives to support Ukraine in resistance to Moscow forces and tries to save bilateral contacts. "Despite the fact that in today's geopolitical conditions, the opportunities to maintain contacts and development of relationships are very limited, but can only cause pleasure that our relations with many European countries are stored and developing.

One of these countries is Hungary," Putin's words say Reuters . The dictator emphasized that Hungary develops closer relations with Russia than other EU States, and is regarded as a key potential opponent of the decision taken in December, whether it is worth starting with Kiev. The last Putin and Orban spoke face to face on February 1, 2022 during a few hours in Moscow, just three weeks before the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine.

In an attempt to approve Hungary further assistance to Ukraine, including the beginning of negotiations on EU membership, Brussels considers the possibility of unblocking billions of euros for Hungary, frozen due to problems with the rule of law. However, Germany has questioned the ability of Hungary to preserve the EU Council for six months, since July 2024.

Therefore, the MEPs want to deprive Hungary of the right to lead the European Union for the mentioned period because of value inconsistency. In April 2023, the leaders of almost all political groups in the European Parliament called on the European Commission not to satisfy Hungary's requests for additional European funds for issues for democracy, the rule of law and human rights.

As reported by Focus, on September 29, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine ridiculed the next scandalous statement of Orban. The speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko responded to the statement of Hungary Prime Minister for Ukraine's accession to the EU and reminded that the country did not change its borders.

In addition, on September 3, Orban's representatives doubted the success of the Armed Forces counter -offensive and called on the Guarantee of the Russian Federation. His administration stated that there would be no peace negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. We will remind, Focus wrote that on August 26, the Prime Minister of Hungary criticized the event for the support of Ukraine.
